WWDC25
I was really excited by some of the new things announced at WWDC this year. I appreciated seeing how AI is working it’s way in to many new features, without being posisioned as AI. I love some of the new phone features like “Call Screening” and “Hold Assistant”. Surely these features are powered by Apple’s new AI frameworks under the hood, but they don’t mention those details. (talk about the improvements over the previous implementation of “silense unknown callers” and how that can get in the way of recieging an important call from a Dr. or an expected call from a number not in your contacts)
Topic: AI behind competitors I read an article talking about how Apple’s AI models are behind others like Meta, Google, and OpenAI. But I think the ranking of their model among competition on benchmark metrics alone, is not all that helpful. I’ve expected Apple to be behind the leading edge in terms of technical abilities, but where I think they will outperform are the ways in which AI is integrated across their platforms. The future of AI is not an app or text and image generation or the capabilities that are relatively easy to compare right now. The future is about how AI is seemlessly integrated into everything in such a way that you don’t fully know when you’re interacting with AI.
